Located at 9°55’08.7’’ North latitude, 103°58’52.5’’ East longitude, Golden Turtle Island or Kim Quy Island or well-known under the name “U” turn among professional divers is a small island in the West of May Rut Trong (Hon Vong) Island as well as the North of May Rut Ngoai Island by West. With a special shape the island doesn’t possess any beach but in return it possesses wide as well as beautiful snorkeling, diving spots and is home of many types of fishes and coral.

It takes just 1 minute to reach Golden Turtle Island from either May Rut Trong (Hon Vong) island or May Rut Ngoai Island. Located separately to other islands in the An Thoi archipelago seems to imply some special things about the island. The spot A1, A2, A3 facing to the West, the South and the East respectively, among that the spot A1 is appropriate for diving trip because firstly it is the deepest spot and it has a wide tranquil watery area. In term of snorkeling we don’t suggest this spot because it doesn’t have a variety of coral reefs here. But in contrary, the spot A2 and A3 possessing a vast variety of coral reefs both soft and hard types of coral. From our experience then A3 is the best one for snorkeling among these 3 spots.

In snorkeling at spot A3, a large area of thousands sq meter of coral reefs you will absolutely run into large area of Anemone and clown fishes. But we regret to say that we don’t have those photos here to show you now.

Not like in Dam Ngang Island, in Golden Turtle (Kim Quy) island there are still many big reefs of healthy table corals.
Have ever seen home to fishes? This is ideal place for small blue fish, on sight you will think it’s like a matrix of blue fishes – Interesting things to do in Phu Quoc.
You will meet many sea-urchins in the exploration in Golden Turtle (Kim Quy) Island.
In order to be able to swim off all of spots here it takes about 1 hour and more. We start at the middle of the side A3 then in order explore to the right side then get back for the left side of the spot. The spot has a sloping terrain with depths of 1 – 7 m within 20 m of the island. Then our experience is to swimming as close as possible to the island in the way go and get farer on the way back.
In terms of snorkeling we highly appreciate the beauty of coral reefs the spot A3 in comparison with coral reef in Bom (Mong Tay) Island.

The average depth when you swim over this area is about less than 0.5 m, particularly some spots are just only 0.1 – 0.2 m then in exploring this Coral Mountain please:
- Swimming at slow speed to stay away from corals at a safe distance
- Paying attention to the front (you may get stuck or find out no way to escape)
- Should use flipper if you are able to freely dive
- Don’t stand on any rock-like objects because they are probably Massive coral
