Soft-adventure Snorkeling Video of Netherland Guests in August 2023
On August 10, 2023, a Netherland family participated in our soft-adventure snorkeling excursion, capturing a short video of the experience. Contrary to popular belief that the rainy season is unsuitable for snorkeling and diving in Phu Quoc Island, our documentation and historical data suggest otherwise. This period stands out as an optimal time to appreciate the marine life and vibrant coral reefs in South Phu Quoc Island. You can view the video at:

OnBird’s Explanation of the Rainy Season of Phu Quoc Island
Guests from the Netherlands visited Phu Quoc in August 2023, coinciding with both the summer season and the island’s rainy period. Initially concerned about the weather, they were pleasantly surprised by the sunny conditions on the day of their tour. Despite prior cautions against visiting during the rainy season, there was a 10-day hiatus in tours three weeks before their visit due to severe sea conditions caused by two tropical storms. While such weather occurrences are not uncommon on Phu Quoc Island during the rainy season from May to October, it is important to note that sunny days are still prevalent, with adverse weather typically only manifesting under the influence of tropical storms.
OnBird introduces a unique service that forecasts water conditions up to seven days in advance. This innovative feature enables informed decisions regarding the scheduling of snorkeling and diving activities.
Anne and her family participated in a small-group snorkeling excursion, accommodating a maximum of 8-9 individuals. Despite the rainy season, the weather proved to be exceptionally pleasant, facilitating our discovery of the secluded coral reefs in South Phu Quoc.
During the rainy season, the snorkeling experience for exploring coral reefs in South Phu Quoc is notably preferable compared to the dry season, despite rough sea conditions. The wave intensity in South Phu Quoc Island fluctuates daily. In the dry season, there are frequent occurrences of rough seas, restricting opportunities to visit picturesque coral locations, although regular snorkeling sites remain accessible.
