When Scott reached out to OnBird Phu Quoc, we knew we were in for a special treat. Scott, a professional photographer and digital creator from Spain, was traveling through Southeast Asia with his wife and their two young children, Massimo (5) and Isabella (3). Their 4-month journey aimed to explore, document, and educate their children about the diverse cultures and environments of the region. Phu Quoc was set to be a highlight of their trip, especially as both kids would be celebrating their birthdays on the island.
Scott’s initial email was both heartfelt and intriguing. He expressed his excitement about the possibility of collaborating with us, leveraging his content creation skills and substantial travel following to document their adventures and elevate our online presence. We were more than eager to design an itinerary that would showcase the best of Phu Quoc’s underwater treasures while ensuring a memorable experience for Scott’s family.
1. Planning the Perfect Sof-adventure Snorkeling Trip
With 10 days to plan, our team at OnBird set to work crafting a soft-adventure marine life discovery snorkeling journey tailored to the best sea conditions during their stay. Our exclusive Open Water Safety Management system indicated that the Southern Reefs on July 23rd would offer ideal conditions for a family-friendly adventure. Although light waves were forecasted along the routes, the coral spots were expected to remain calm, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Underwater visibility was anticipated to be 3-4 meters for 4 days in a row — this is average level in Phu Quoc but the family has tight time budget so they can not change the time, but snorkeling in Phu Quoc, where coral reefs are most concentrated at depths ranging from 1 to 5 meters so it is still kind of fine for seeing corals.
Phu Quoc’s underwater visibility varies throughout the year:
- Good visibility (7-9 meters) for 5-10 days each month.
- Average visibility (4-6 meters) for 10-15 days each month.
- Low visibility (1-3 meters) for 5-6 days each month.
With these factors in mind, we prepared for Scott’s family’s arrival, eager to share the natural beauty of Phu Quoc’s reefs with them.
2. The Snorkeling Journey
On the afternoon of July 23rd, Scott and his family embarked on a 5.5-hour snorkeling journey to the An Thoi Archipelago with our experienced crew. The excitement was palpable as we set sail, and the kids’ enthusiasm was contagious. Throughout the trip, our guides ensured that everyone was comfortable and engaged, sharing fascinating insights about the marine life and coral ecosystems we encountered.
The underwater world did not disappoint. Despite the moderate visibility, Massimo and Isabella were captivated by the vibrant corals and colorful fish swimming just beneath the surface. Their parents, too, marveled at the beauty of the reefs, snapping photos and capturing videos to share with their followers. The calm conditions at the coral spots allowed the family to fully immerse themselves in the experience, creating lasting memories of their time in Phu Quoc.

“We had a really good time and will post many things in the next few days. Our followers like to read and hear our experiences so we will 100% recommend your ECO 🌱 Sustainable company. I did Cham Island 2 weeks ago and it was similar in terms of sea life, in Cham the visibility was +7 meters which was amazing but the Tour company was average hence you don’t see any of my recommendations on my family account. We value true and honest people who care for what they do. We have been travelling for 3 months and have learned a lot and today we keep adding. The Team today where amazing and should be proud of you guys 🇻🇳😍.”
