Honeycomb Coral (Diploastrea Heliopora) – Phu Quoc Coral Observation

A massive dome-shaped (helmet-shaped) Honeycomb coral (Diploastrea Heliopora) discovered at the depth of 7 m at Phu Quoc Half-moon Reef, this is the largest honeycomb coral ever found in Phu Quoc.

Status: Diploastrea Heliopora is a kind of near threatened coral (NT) (IUCN Red List)

Coral Info: Honeycomb coral or Diploastrea Heliopora is a species of hard coral in the family Diploastreidae. It is the only extant species in its genus. This species can form massive dome-shaped colonies of great size.
