Located at 9°57’15.3’’ North latitude and 104°01’03.8’’ East longitude, Pineapple Island — also known as Hòn Thơm or 菠萝岛 in Chinese (the island of wild pineapple trees) — is the largest among the small islands of the An Thới archipelago, situated just off the southern coast of Phú Quốc, Vietnam.
Once a humble fishing village, Hòn Thơm has transformed into a premier entertainment destination developed by Sun Group — a leading Vietnamese developer renowned for integrating tourism, resort, and real estate projects. Their portfolio includes iconic developments such as Fansipan Legend in Lào Cai, Sun World Hạ Long, Sun World Cát Bà in Hải Phòng, Bà Nà Hills in Đà Nẵng, Bà Đen Mountain in Tây Ninh, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, JW Marriott Phu Quoc, Premier Village Phu Quoc, and New World Phu Quoc.
Sun Group once ambitiously proposed a crazy project of constructing a cable car through the world’s largest natural cave, Sơn Đoòng, located in the core zone of Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng National Park, Quang Binh Province — a UNESCO-recognized World Natural Heritage Site (2003, 2015). However, the proposal was ultimately rejected to preserve the area’s ecological integrity, many biologist scientists criticized that project, luckily it did not happen.

In Phú Quốc, Sun Group envisions turning the southern part of the island — especially Hòn Thơm — into a world-class entertainment hub, complete with a theme park, water park, luxurious 5-star resorts like The Ritz-Carlton on Hon Thom, JW Marriot at Khem Beach…and the record-breaking Hòn Thơm Cable Car, currently the world’s longest sea-crossing cable car. Today, this island stands as a symbol of Phú Quốc’s transformation — from a quiet fishing outpost to a rising star of regional tourism, of course all Sun Group projects come with real estate properties.
The An Thoi Archipelago, located in the southernmost part of Phu Quoc, consists of 15 islands and 1 islet within an 18-kilometer radius of An Thoi town. This area is renowned for its pristine beauty, crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and peaceful white-sand beaches.

Launched in February 2018, the Hon Thom Cable Car has made headlines as the world’s longest sea-crossing three-wire cable car, offering travelers a breathtaking aerial journey over the emerald waters of the Gulf of Thailand. This state-of-the-art system connects An Thoi town to Hon Thom (also known as Pineapple Island) — one of the largest islands among the 21 satellite islets surrounding Phu Quoc, located about 8 kilometers offshore.
With its impressive length and modern engineering, the Hon Thom Cable Car is more than just a means of transportation — it’s an unforgettable adventure through the sky, giving visitors a thrilling, panoramic view of the tropical paradise below.
