The Day, Hour by Hour
7:30 Early start, by the sea — Dinh Cau & Bach Dang waterfront
We begin while the morning is still cool. At Dinh Cau Shrine, perched on the rocks where the Duong Dong River meets the sea, local fishermen still pause to pray before heading out. From here we walk the Bach Dang waterfront and cross the old Duong Dong bridge, watching the wooden fishing boats sway on the water. There’s an optional stroll into Duong Dong market for those who want a closer look at island life as it actually happens.
A family pepper garden
Phu Quoc pepper is one of the island’s most famous exports, and here you’ll see how it’s grown the traditional way. Walk the rows, learn the harvest cycle, and taste fresh pepper ground by hand — the difference from supermarket pepper is hard to forget.
The Cua Can River – basket boat or kayak, you choose
The Cua Can winds through an untouched mangrove forest, and it’s one of the most peaceful corners of the island. Drift through it your way: settle into a traditional round bamboo basket boat and let your boatwoman do the work, or take a kayak/SUP if you’d rather paddle. Either way, the river belongs to you for a while — no engines, no noise, just water and forest.
A riverside lunch
We slow right down for lunch: a set menu of local island dishes at a relaxed spot by the water. Take your time, there’s no clock here.
(Please inform us if you have any dietary restrictions)
Phu Quoc herbal & honey farm
A short, easy stop at a working bee farm — a cool kombucha/ drink, a moment in the shade, and a taste of island honey before the afternoon.
A traditional fish sauce barrel house
Phu Quoc fish sauce is a geographically-protected specialty, aged for months in giant wooden barrels. Step inside one of the old barrel houses and learn the craft behind the island’s most famous flavour — and pick up a bottle of the real thing if you’d like.
History to close the day – temple or museum, your call
End with depth: pay your respects at the temple of Nguyen Trung Truc, a Vietnamese national hero, or explore the island’s layered past through the artefacts at Coi Nguon Museum.
As we keep our small-group pace unhurried, the day includes one of these two heritage stops – your guide will confirm the choice with you before lunchtime, based on timing and weather. On rainy days, the museum is a more comfortable option; if the temple visit runs long, we may conclude there rather than rushing to the museum.
We have you back at your hotel by late afternoon.
