VIETNAM REOPENING – GUIDE TO ENTER PHU QUOC FROM 20 NOV.2021

Starting from 20 November, 2021, fully-vaccinated international visitors under the “Sandbox” programme to Phu Quoc are welcome to stay in selective hotel and resorts in Phu Quoc, and afterwards will be able to continue their journey to other parts of Vietnam.

 

PRE-ARRIVAL

Preparing to Travel

Kindly note that in order to be eligible to enter Phu Quoc, fully vaccinated international travelers still need to have all of their advance arrangements in good order for arrival and entry.

These include:

  1. A certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 (except for children under 12 years old travelling with their parents or guardians) valid at least 14 days after receiving the second dose and not more than 12 months to the date of entry. Travelers can also have recovered from COVID-19 within 6 months.
  2. Negative COVID-19 certificates using the RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method as issued by authorised agencies within 72 hours before departure.
  3. Health or travel insurance that covers COVID-19 expenses with minimum liability of US$50,000.
  4. Joining a tour package laid on by licensed travel agencies and follow their instructions.
Day of Travel

Please pay attention to appropriate epidemic prevention measures on transport vehicles before entering the country.

Visitors may need to be able to present all the required printed documentation (except for ones that are accepted by Vietnamese authorities in soft copies) upon request during the flight check-in and custom immigration procedures.

 

ARRIVAL

Entry Screening

Visitors on international flights to Phu Quoc Airport are subject to health screening, including personal temperature check. Then install and use IGOVN and PC-COVID apps, follow prescribed infection prevention and control measures during your travel period in Vietnam.

In case of having symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, chills, loss of taste or smell, please immediately notify the medical authority at the airport.

Day 0-1

Upon arriving at hotels, self-test for COVID-19 under the guidance and supervision of the accommodation facility’s medical staff.

If the result is negative, the guest can continue to participate in the tour program. If positive, you will be taken to a medical facility.

 

DURING THE STAY

Day 1-7

Visitors are only allowed to participate in tourism activities according to the pre-registered schedule organized by licensed travel agencies. You absolutely do not separate the group or leave the assigned areas.

Day 7+

Visitors registered for the more than 7-day tour programs are tested for RT-PCR by local health authority staff on the 7th day.

After receiving a negative test result for COVID-19, guests can go to other locations allowed to welcome international guests according to the package tour program. (The list is published in each phase of the international arrival roadmap.)

When visitors need to visit relatives at places other than the above locations, they must register in writing with the tour organizers. They will have tour organizers get approval from these local authorities to coordinate health monitoring, management according to the regulations.

Health & Safety Precautions

While in Vietnam, visitors are advised to continue with a message featuring 5K (in Vietnamese) Khau trang (facemask)- (Khu khuan) disinfection- (Khoang cach) distance- (Khong tu tap) no gathering – (Khai bao y te) health declaration to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Masks must be worn at all times in public areas and in any vehicle with two or more people.

DEPARTURE

International Departure

Guests can leave the country on commercial flights or licensed charter flights.

For travelling from Phu Quoc to other countries, visitors are advised to follow the guidelines and measures announced by the respective country of their destination.

 

Domestic Departure

  • 1st Phase (From 20 November 2021): Visitors cannot travel to other local destinations.
  • 2nd Phase (From Jan 2022): Holiday-makers can combine multiple destinations in Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Da Nang, Quang Ninh (Ha Long Bay) and other localities can be added later. Visitors traveling to other selected destinations are required to have an entry visa application as policies. Those who prefer to visit relatives in Vietnam need to have Immigration Department allow them to change the purpose of entry according to regulations.
